ERS Scotland is hosting an annual lecture on the state of Scottish democracy.

ERS Scotland is proud to host the inaugural State of Scottish Democracy lecture. Is Scottish democracy healthy at a local and national level? How can decision-making and debate be enhanced, and how can we grow the role of citizens in shaping Scottish politics? What’s the impact of the constitutional question and what is the future of Scottish democratic life?

Join us as we delve into these issues and many more.

Speaker: Professor James Mitchell

James is one of Scotland’s leading experts on the constitution, devolution, the Scottish Parliament and Government. He is a regular contributor and commentator in the Scottish media. He is currently working on publications drawn from studies of the Scottish independence referendum, Scottish elections, the surge in SNP and Green Party membership, local governance and the politics of fiscal policy.
